The accused are Airman 1st Class Dalian Washington and Airman 1st Class Akeem Beazer

Two enlisted airmen assigned to Dover Air Force Base are being held on federal charges they sexually abused a runaway teen girl.

The men, identified as Airman 1st Class Dalian Washington, 25, of Philadelphia, and Airman 1st Class Akeem Beazer, 21, of Pompano Beach, Fla., were arrested March 31, said Kimberlynn Reeves, spokeswoman for acting US Attorney David Weiss.

Both men are charged with sexual abuse of a minor, while Washington also faces a single count of sex trafficking of a child.

According to the criminal complaint against both men, the case came to light in March when the girl told a social worker that beginning when she was 15 years old and continuing after her 16th birthday, she had stayed at Dover AFB and had sexual relations with Air Force personnel while there.

This admission prompted an investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Delaware State Police.

The DSP detective was familiar with the girl, who allegedly had a troubled home life and often ran away from home.

According to the complaints, filed with the US District Court in Wilmington, in August 2016, the girl left home and met a man who offered to introduce her to an Air Force serviceman on the condition she have sex with him. The girl told investigators she and the man went to the Department of Motor Vehicles office in Dover, where Washington picked her up and took her back to his dormitory room. Washington later described the man as the girl’s pimp and gave him $20 before leaving the DMV.

While on Dover AFB, the girl said, Washington eventually introduced her to Beazer.

The girl stayed at the dormitory intermittently for several months, saying she had sex both with Washington and Beazer. They also supplied her with food while she was there.

When interviewed by OSI agents, Washington and Beazer both waived their Miranda rights. Washington said the girl first told him she was 18 years old, but after they had sex a second time admitted to being only 15. Despite this admission, Washington told investigators he continued to have intercourse with her and that Beazer continued to do the same even after he also knew her true age.

Both admitted to having sex with the girl several times while on Dover AFB and at other, off-base locations. On one of those occasions, which took place at a motel in Newark, the girl allegedly admitted she was working as a prostitute.

Investigators found more than 150 nude photos of the girl on Washington’s phone as well as a video of one sexual encounter. A search of his dormitory room also turned up a shirt belonging to the girl.

Reeves said if convicted on the charges brought against him, Washington could face a mandatory prison sentence of at least 10 years and up to 20 years. Beazer could be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years.

The case remains under investigation, she said.

A spokeswoman for the 436th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office declined to provide additional information about the suspects, referring all inquiries to the US Attorney’s office.

“Dover Air Force Base leadership is aware that federal prosecutors have charged two Dover airmen with sexual assault of an underage female,” she said. “We are cooperating fully with local law enforcement agencies as they continue their investigation.”

Investigators have asked anyone who may have additional information about this case to contact the FBI at (410) 265-8080.
