Retired U.S. Army Col. Henry J. Foresman will present a program examining the political and diplomatic reasons America decided to send troops to support the allied war effort during World War I at 10:30 a.m. April 1 at the Delaware Public Archives, 121 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Dover.

Foresman’s presentation will provide an overview of America’s contribution to the allied military operations in Europe and will explore the life of the American soldiers who were sent to France.

Foresman served 33 years on active duty. He is director of the Washington Office of the Third Army and has served in his current position at the Pentagon since May 2012. His responsibilities include the coordination and interaction with Department of Defense and Army staff and agencies. Other major responsibilities include the administration of office budget management and congressional interaction.
