Wesley College celebrated Founders Day on March 15 at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover.

The event is an annual tradition for the college that celebrates the beginnings of Wesley College — founded in 1873 — and recognizes donors’ contributions and students’ accomplishments with scholarships and awards.

Wesley College Director of Counseling Services Ann Rogge was the program emcee, offering welcoming and closing statements to those in attendance. Jason Hansen served as a guest speaker at the ceremony and helped celebrate the life of Millie Steele Hansen, who passed away recently after a long illness.

More than $130,000 in scholarship money was awarded to 76 students. Many of the scholarships were merit based and specific to areas of study. In addition, 25 students received academic departmental awards, which recognize applicants that are the top students in each department based on grade point average and other factors.
