1868 Middletown's Transcript newspaper reported locals had been enjoying great ice skating on Drummond's Mill Pond (now Silver Lake).
1895 The Grand Lodge of Delaware laid the cornerstone of the Masonic Temple of Jefferson Lodge, No. 15 in Lewes.
1917 Fred Brown's brandy still closed near Seaford. It had been a gathering place for local lovers of the apple and peach varieties.
1968 Navy Hospital Corpsman Robert Tracy of Greenville was killed in action in Quang Nam Vietnam. Only 21 years old, his body was interred in the Lower Brandywine Cemetery.
