Here are three fun events to dive into this weekend.

1. Signora Bella educates folks about the tradition of travelling performers from the 1700s as she juggles knives and torches while balancing on a rope and giant ball.

She’s quite the teacher. Signora Bella, portrayed by equilibrist Judy Ellis, is coming back to Dover to dazzle audiences in the seventh annual 18th Century Market Fair.

Also back at the fair is Mike Follin as “Dr. Balthazar and his Marvelous Miracle Medicine Show.” The good doctor is all about conning naïve folks into believing his spiel. As whimsical as it sounds, con men used to do the same during the 1700s, traveling from town to town looking for gullible souls to sell lies to.

In addition to featuring period entertainers Dr. Balthazar and Signora Bella, marketgoers will also experience a variety of nifty wares and artwork for sell from vendors dressed in 18th century attire.

The annual Market Fair will open on The Green in Dover from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday. COST Free. INFO destateparks.com/marketfair or call 739-9194.

2. Thy Geekdom Con is a sanctuary for lovers of comic books, video games, cosplay and all things nerdy.

New this year is a variety show throughout the event. Guests will see many acts come on stage, including Jeff Jordan The World’s Tallest Hypnotist, Captain Kyle’s Cosplay Spotlight and the fan-favorite costume contest.

The contest welcomes guests of all ages to show off their costumes for a chance to win prizes and handmade trophies.

For gamers, there will be a tournament for “Super Smash Bros. for Wii U” and “Mortal Kombat X.” Additionally, folks have a chance to play games by indie developers. There will also be another section dedicated solely to board and tabletop role-playing games.

If that’s not enough, there will be panels and workshops all day. These will cover topics from video game development and writing books to sewing, creating armor and making props.

Salvation from a dull weekend will come in the form of Thy Geekdom Con, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Wilmington, 4727 Concord Pike, in Wilmington from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. COST $10; free for ages 11 or younger. INFO thygeekdomcon.com.

3. The Christmas season is finally here. To get a jump on early shopping, you can start at the Rehoboth Art League’s 27th Annual Holiday Fair – Fine Craft Show.

More than 25 artisans will be exhibiting and selling their work, including jewelry, glassworks, pottery, clay sculpture, painting, woodworking, mixed media and decorative and wearable fiber creations.

The Holiday Fair is at the Historic Campus of the Rehoboth Art League, 12 Dodds Lane, in Henlopen Acres, Rehoboth Beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. COST $5; free for ages younger than 12. INFO rehobothartleague.org or call 227-8408.
