UPDATE: Atwood's GoFundMe page has passed the $7,000 mark in the first day with generous donations ranging from $5 to $150.
He’s known as “Mr. Walmart”— Atwood Tucker is the voice that greets customers as they enter the Milford store.
On Friday, Oct. 14, the 80-year-old Milford resident was struck by a car while leaving a shift and heading to his car.
His granddaughter, Lacey Moffett, has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical expenses.
According to the GoFundMe page, Tucker is in the hospital suffering 14 broken ribs, a bruised lung and a concussion. By mid-day Tuesday Moffett had raised $4,100, well over the $1,500 goal. The amount is steadily increasing.
“Unfortunately, this situation will put him out of work for quite some time,” Moffett wrote on the web page at www.gofundme.com/mr-atwood-aka-mr-walmart-2usm25cg.
