This week the World Series has dominated debates, including ones in our office. So we did a combo list, including our favorite baseball team, the player we love to hate, and our favorite playoff/World Series moment. News Editor Jeff Brown isn’t much of a fan, so we subbed in Sean Dooley, universal desk designer and sports nut.

Brian Citino, staff writer
Favorite team:
2004 Boston Red Sox — Lovable group of self-proclaimed “idiots.”
Player you love to hate: Barry Bonds, all-time biggest jerk in sports. I would’ve said Billy Wagner, but that’d be like kicking a dead horse.
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: Brad Lidge vs. Eric Hinske, strike three to end the 2008 World Series and give the Phillies their first title since 1980.

Sean Dooley, universal desk designer
Favorite Team:
Philadelphia Phillies 2008 team — The first Philadelphia team I ever saw win a world championship will always be special to me.
Player you love to hate: Manny Ramirez — In addition to his steroid use, it’s tough to like a guy who quits on his team like he did in Boston, or hits the showers before an NLCS game is over.
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: Final out of the 2008 World Series, the greatest sports moment of my life.

Doug Denison, staff writer
Favorite team:
1996 Baltimore Orioles
Player you love to hate: David Ortiz
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: Randy Johnson throwing against the Yankees in 2001

Jayne Gest, staff writer
Favorite team:
1997 Cleveland Indians
Player you love to hate: Manny Ramirez
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: 1956 perfect game by Don Larsen, which is yet to be duplicated

Elaine Hughes, staff writer
Favorite team:
Philadelphia Phillies 2008 — Chase Utley, Cole Hamel, World Series win — amazing!
Player you love to hate: Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: In 1993, the Blue Jays’ Carter hits a home run in the bottom of the ninth to win the series

Sarika Jagtiani, staff writer
Favorite team:
1997 Cleveland Indians — great team, nutty fans
Player you love to hate: Roger Dorn (Corbin Bernson), “Major League”
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: Phillies 2008 World Series win

Maureen Raitz, editor
Favorite team:
1998 World Series Champions, New York Yankees
Player you love to hate: Roger Clemens. I’m a lifelong Yankee fan, but I’m proud to say I never cheered for that man on the mound. I couldn’t stand him in Boston or Toronto and wearing pinstripes wasn’t going to change my mind.
Favorite playoff/World Series moment: Game 1, 1998 World Series, Tino Martinez’s grand slam
