First Friday in downtown Dover offers arts, entertainment and refreshments from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at participating merchants. As part of First Friday Gives Back, participating merchants adopt the Delmarva Boy Scouts Council to help them raise funds.
First Friday events are as follows:
Federal Street
- The Biggs Museum: Book reading with author Eleanor Vernice Siyon of “Sylvia Visits the Land of Angels.” In the story, Sylvia falls asleep and dreams that she is visiting the beautiful “Land of Angels.” Siyon is an educator, author and playwright whose primary focus is enhancing the spiritual development of children of all faiths and spiritual interests. Copies of the book will be available for inscription and purchase. Illustrations are by Latonia Jones and the flute and piano are performed by Carlos Holmes.
Loockerman Street
- Bel Boutique: Music by Rick Hudson. Also, “We Love Our Troops” invites people to personalize a valentine to be sent to troops.
- Caribbean Cuisine
- Delaware Made: Artisan Debbie Spencer, Delaware wine sampling, sale.
- Dover Art League: “Love Is In The Air” exhibit featuring an exhibit of watercolors and photos by husband and wife artists Rosemary and Bob Connelly of Live Cheap & Make Art Studios. At 6 p.m., the Connellys will present a digital slide show and talk about the two years they lived in Italy. Models will wander throughout gallery wearing selections of jewelry by member jewelers.
- Dover News Stand: Vincent dePaul Gisriel Jr., author of “Hearts Away, Bombs Away,” a true World War II story based on the memories and memoirs of those close to his father at the time of the war.
