First Friday in downtown Dover is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3. All events are free unless otherwise noted. Many vendors offer refreshments, specials and sales during this monthly event. Parking is free after 5 p.m.

Biggs Museum of American Art — History of Delaware at the Biggs Museum. Take the new self-guided History of Delaware tour through the museum’s permanent galleries. Staff will be available to answer questions. The tours run from 2 to 4:30.

Dover News Stand — Book signing by author of children’s books, Christy Shaffer, who has published 42 books. Some of her prints and original works will be on display; Tommy Little, Esq. discusses his book “A Warrior’s Tale” and his near-death experience
Forney's — Featuring jewelry artisan Luminitia Hamilton talking about and displaying her jewelry.
Forney's Too — Featuring “The Three Sisters Artisans”, jewelry by Jill Cravens and Jamie Melvin and gourd painter Jennifer Wooleyhand.
Greater Dover Foundation Community Building — Kent County Fund for the Arts introduces the 2010 grant recipients. Plan to attend a discussion about the arts in Kent County at 6 p.m.
