Gov. Jack Markell will sign HB 472, establishing March 30 each year as Vietnam Veterans Day in the state of Delaware during a ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Markell will endorse the legislation at 9:30 a.m. in the Kent County Veteran Memorial Park on South Little Creek Road.

The ceremony is open to the public as well as all Vietnam veterans.

Vietnam Veteran’s Day in Delaware honors members of the US armed services who served in Vietnam.

“In addition to a day of national remembrance of the 2001 attack on the United States, Saturday, Sept. 11, will hold additional significance to Delaware’s Vietnam veterans,” said Paul Davis, president of the Delaware Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Although the ceremony will be brief, those planning to attend should bring chairs, Davis said.
