A man found shot to death Friday night in Woodside has been identified as Richard L. Jacobs Jr., 44, of Dover.


Delaware State Police have identified the shooting victim as Richard L. Jacobs Jr. 44, of Dover. 

The autopsy determined the manner of death to be a homicide, with the cause of death multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

DSP spokesman Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said no additional details on the case will be released in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation.



Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation into an apparent Friday night homicide near Woodside.

Troopers were called to the unit block of Grays Lane, Meadowbrook Acres, at about 11:20 p.m. March 27 to investigate a report of shots being fired, said division spokesman Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale.

Officers found a man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle who had sustained a number of gunshot wounds, Hale said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Hale said.

The body was taken from the scene by representatives from the Division of Forensic Science to conduct an autopsy and determine the cause and manner of death, Hale said. The man’s name was withheld until his relatives could be notified, he added.

Additional information will be released at a later time, Hale said.
