  • Dover Police are continuing to investigate Wednesday afternoon’s shooting incident in which a man was injured, as well as two fatal shootings on Aug. 24, said department spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
“The detectives are developing some additional leads on [Wednesday’s] case, but nothing that we can discuss at this point,” Hoffman said.
The Aug. 27 incident took place at about 10 a.m. on North Kirkwood Street, in an empty lot between Division and Fulton streets. Detectives have learned a man fired what appeared to be five shots at another man, wounding him in the foot.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, Hoffman said.
The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black man with a thin build, about 6 feet in height, and wearing a light-colored mustache. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing blue jeans and a two-tone brown sweatshirt.
After the shooting, the suspect was seen running northbound from the scene.
Hoffman said police are depending on members of the community for help in finding the assailant.
“We’re looking for people to let us know what they saw or heard,” he said.
Detectives also are working to identify those who accompanied Yusif Lamb, 33, to a home on South Kirkwood Street the afternoon of Aug. 24; Lamb, who was from Montclair, N.J., was shot to death there after he pulled a gun on 32-year-old area resident, Shamarr Willingham.
Lamb’s death was ruled a case of self-defense and he has not been charged.
Lamb arrived at the scene in a Jeep Commando, accompanied by at least one other vehicle, Hoffman said. While the owner of the Commando has cooperated with police and the vehicle has been impounded, they still are looking for those in the other vehicle, he said.
In addition, detectives are following leads in the shooting death of a 24-year-old New Castle, Del. man, Tyson Henry.
Henry and a 25-year-old woman were among those leaving a party on Simon Circle early on Aug. 24 when several shots were fired into the crowd. Tyson was mortally wounded and the woman, who was shot in the lower torso, underwent surgery at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. At last report, she was in serious but stable condition.
“I’ve talked to the detectives who are handling these cases and they’re happy with the way things are going,” Hoffman said. “But we really don’t have any information we can provide just yet.”
Hoffman reminded anyone with information on any of these crimes to call Dover Police at 736-7111.
