  • Wesley College President Dr. William Johnston will retire at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year, according to a news release from the college.
Johnston became Wesley’s 16th president in 2008. During his tenure, several improvements were made to the college including adding new adult studies programs and increasing retention rates.
His presidency also saw numerous additions to the campus. The Wesley plazas not only made the school a more pedestrian-friendly environment, but also offered students a place to access outdoor Wi-Fi and a set area to hold events, school officials said. The Health Sciences Building also was added  to accommodate a growing nursing department with new facilities and state-of-the-art equipment.
Wesley’s Board of Trustees hopes to name a successor early next year.
