A 24-year-old New Castle man is dead and a woman is in the hospital following an early Sunday morning shooting in Dover.
Tyson Henry, 24, died shortly after arrival at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, said Dover Police Department spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
The shooting took place at about 1:24 a.m. following a private party in the 300 block of Simon Circle. The preliminary police investigation shows the party had ended and people were walking toward their cars when the shots rang out. The department received numerous 911 calls with reports of at least one victim, Hoffman said.
Henry died as the result of a single gunshot wound to the lower part of his body; the unidentified woman was admitted to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower part of her body, Hoffman said. She is listed in serious but stable condition following surgery.
Both Henry and the 25-year-old woman were taken to Kent General by private vehicle; there is no relationship between the two, Hoffman added.
Henry’s murder is the second to take place in Dover in 2014; in July, 20-year-old Rashaad Lewis was stabbed several times during a fight, and died on Aug. 11.
