  • Dover fugitive nabbed with handgun, heroin

  • Diandre Willis, 23, a Dover man wanted for a probation violation, was arrested on weapons and drug charges Thursday.
    Willis was spotted in downtown Dover at 4:37 p.m. by Dover Police Department Safe Streets officers, said department spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman. As police approached, Willis ran off, going through several backyards and damaging a fence, Hoffman said.
    He was captured in the first block of South Governors Avenue; when searched, officers seized a loaded handgun and eight bags of heroin.
    Willis was charged with possession of firearm by a previously convicted violent felon, possession of firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, carrying concealed deadly weapon, possession of controlled substance (heroin) with aggravating factor (handgun), resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief under $1,000, third-degree criminal trespass.
    Willis was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, after failing to obtain a $44,600 secured bond.
