A Dover man, identified as Deon Maestre, 28, was has been arrested after police found marijuana in his car during a traffic stop.

The arrest occurred at 3:21 a.m. Aug. 19 on South Bradford Street as members of the Dover Police Department’s Operation Safe Streets Unit pulled over Maestre’s car. Police noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a search, said police spokesman Lt. David Spicer.

Officer seized a black backpack containing 18 clear plastic sandwich bags containing 357 grams (about 12 ounces) of marijuana. Maestre’s vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, was impounded.

Maestre later was released on a $200 unsecured bond.
