  • A Dover woman, identified by police as Sonia Scott, 36, was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items of clothing and then attacked a store employee and police officers.
The incident took place just before 9:35 p.m. Aug. 14, at the Target store at 148 John Hunn Brown Road, said Dover Police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
Police were called to the scene after Scott escaped from an employee while attempting to leave the store with numerous pieces of clothing hidden in her purse. Scott allegedly shoved the store worker several times, cutting the worker’s arm, before fleeing.
Found later in the Capital Green area, Scott allegedly fought police efforts to take her into custody, but was arrested after a short struggle. During a search, officers found a claw hammer concealed in the small of her back.
Small was charged with second-degree robbery, offensive touching, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed dangerous instrument and disorderly conduct.
She was order jailed at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to secure a $6,500 secured bail.
