The Department of Transportation will begin a pavement and rehabilitation project that will require the closure of Andrews Lake Road between Route 15/Canterbury Road and Indian Point Road.

The closure will begin at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 and end at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, pending weather, said DelDOT spokeswoman Louise Holt.

The reconstruction project, which is a full depth reclamation process, rebuilds worn out asphalt pavement by recycling the existing roadway. The old asphalt and base materials are pulverized, mixed with asphalt/cement and water, and compacted to produce a strong durable base for either an asphalt or concrete surface.

Access to local residents, emergency response vehicles, and school buses will be provided at all times, and variable message signs will be placed to notify motorists  of the upcoming closure and detour routes.
