  • Detectives with the Dover Police are investigating two burglaries that took place over the past weekend.
The first occurred sometime between 6:18 p.m. Aug. 8 and 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9, in a maintenance area belonging to the Bay Tree apartments. The burglar got into the building, possibly through an unsecured door, and tried to get into the maintenance shop by prying open a double steel door. That effort failed, causing $1,300 in damage; the burglar ultimately removed the door from its hinges and stole a window air conditioning unit.
The second took place sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. Aug. 10, on Pine Valley Road in Maple Dale when someone got into a home through an unlocked sliding glass door. Once inside, the burglar took a wallet and Hewlett-Packard laptop computer.
Anyone with information on either crime is asked to call Dover Police at 736-7111.
Anonymous tips may be submitted via Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333, or online at http://Delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
