A mix of Southern, modern and classic rock – the Dover-based Shades of August melds it all together to deliver an appetizing sound.

Originally formed in 2005 under the name Seventh Hour, the guys worked hard to spread their music in the Dover area. By 2008, the group ─ which is headed by frontman Brian Dawson ─ had gradually built a loyal fan base through gigs at local venues such as Bubba’s Rock Shack.

Shades of August had a breakthrough year in 2011 when it was selected to perform at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., for the season-opening football match-up between Villanova and Temple University.

Although football season hasn’t kicked off yet, Shades of August will still manage to score a touchdown on stage at The Green Stinger Sports Bar and Grill tonight.

WHEN 9:30 p.m., Saturday

WHERE Fire & Ice at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, 1131 North Dupont Highway, Dover

INFO Visit or call 674-4600

If you can make a Hollywood movie about a hot tub, it’d only make sense that a band adopt it as their name, right?

Lo and behold, Hot Tub Limo was born in 2010. The band was founded the same year that the comedy “Hot Tub Time Machine” debuted on the big screen.

Hot Tub Limo, nevertheless, is an eclectic band that’s based in Maryland, playing genres that include hip-hop, punk and rock. The eclectic band dropped its original debut album “Champagne In Prison” in 2013, and their audience will likely hear tunes off the record when the group gigs at the Fire & Ice Lounge of Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Saturday night.
