  • Delaware State Police advises potential renters to use caution regarding homes advertised for rent on Craigslist and Zillow, according to a news release sent July 11.
Scammers have been using pictures of real homes, usually for sale by the owner, to create a fake rental property listing at an enticingly low price.
Victims have said that when they asked to see the property, the landlord would claim to be out of the country, but would ask for a large deposit in exchange for the keys.
