  • A Hartly man, identified as Dale A. Guifoil, 51, was arrested Sunday afternoon after police began their investigation into a possible driving under the influence case.
The incident took place at about 3:30 p.m. July 6 in the 900 block of Myers Drive as police investigated a report of a disabled truck in the home’s driveway, said Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
Troopers determined Guifoil was trying to leave a yard sale when he had mechanical trouble with his truck. The trooper started the DUI investigation after he smelled alcohol on Guifoil, Fournier said.
An inquiry into his driving record at Troop 3 showed Guifoil had eight prior DUI convictions dating back to July 1993.
Guifoil was charged with felony alcohol DUI, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription (oxycodone), driving while suspended or revoked, failure to have insurance in his possession, having fictitious registration, and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle.
He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $10,650 secured bond.
