  • A Dover man, identified as Kenneth E. Hunt II, 24, was killed early Sunday in a motorcycle crash near Rehoboth Beach.
The accident took place at 1:40 a.m. July 6 at the intersection of Coastal Highway and Old Landing Road, said Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
According to the initial investigation, Hunt was traveling southbound in the right lane of Coastal Highway on a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle when he approached a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup at a high rate of speed.
The pickup, operated by Craig M. Shine, 26, of Nottingham, Pa., was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Coastal Highway and Old Landing Road, Fournier said.
As the truck started to move forward with the green light, Fournier said Hunt apparently drove into the rear of the truck at a high rate of speed.
Hunt, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shine and two other passengers were not injured.
Coastal Highway southbound at Old Landing Road was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
