  • A Felton man, identified as Steven A. Tribbett, 29, has been jailed after he allegedly fired a shotgun round at officers searching for him.
Harrington officers were called to the 2000 block of Vernon Road, Harrington, at 2:40 p.m. July 5, to investigate a 911 call about a domestic assault, said Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier
The victim, a 39-year-old woman said Tribbett had pushed her down and put his knee across her throat, cutting off her air. She escaped by running out of the house and locking herself into her car, where she called for help.
A Delaware State Police K9 began tracking Tribbett after he had run into a patch of woods behind the home. At one point, Tribbett fired a single round from shotgun at troopers and officers, Fournier said. Milton and Milford police, as well as a state police aviation unit were called in searching a perimeter for almost four hours but finding only Tribbett’s shotgun.
The search was called off at 6:30 p.m.
Police were notified again via another 911 call that Tribbett had returned to the area; police went back to the scene and found Tribbett in a nearby trailer, where he was arrested without further incident.
Tribbett was charged with three counts of first-degree reckless endangering, strangulation and resisting arrest. He also was found to have two capiases out of Kent County Superior Court for violation of probation.
He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, on $21,000 secured bond.
