  • A 34-year-old Houston man was arrested Saturday in Georgetown after he allegedly assaulted a man twice, once in a North Railroad Avenue store and again on Douglas Street.
According to the Georgetown Police Department, Kevin P. Jalbert was arrested several hours after the first incident, which occurred around 11:15 a.m. at the Guatemalan Store. Police said Jalbert was allegedly involved in a fight with a 33-year-old male victim. Police said store property was damaged during the fight. Before police could arrive, Jalbert allegedly fled the scene. Several hours later, police said they were contacted by the victim, who claimed Jalbert had just assaulted him for the second time on Douglas Street. Police responded to the area and said they found Jalbert hiding in a small ditch on Brittingham Lane.
Jalbert was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $900 secured bond.
