  • The  Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Outdoor State Track and Field Championship is going to include Special Olympics athletes for the second consecutive year May 17 at Caesar Rodney High School, 239 Old N. Road, Camden.
Five high schools have Special Olympics athletes and unified partners (peers without disabilities) competing in the 100-meter dash and shot put events as a part of a Special Olympics Unified Sports initiative. Special Olympics Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.
The partnership between SODE and DIAA was formed as a result of Project UNIFY, an education-based program that uses the sports and education initiatives of Special Olympics to activate youth in an effort to develop school communities.
