Troopers are investigating the death of a Felton man, identified as William Parker, on U.S. Route 13.
Troopers with the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating the death of a Felton man on U.S. Route 13.
William Parker, 53, died in a car/pedestrian crash that occurred at 9:28 p.m. May 10, said division spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack. Parker apparently walked into the southbound lane of the highway, north of Main Street, and directly into the path of an oncoming Nissan Altima, Shavack said.
The Nissan’s driver, identified as Angel Harrington, 32, of Harrington, was not injured.
Parker suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene; a preliminary investigation showed he was not in a crosswalk when hit, Shavack said.
U.S. Route 13 southbound in the area of the crash was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
Shavack said troopers remind pedestrians to use caution when walking on or near roadways, and to ensure they are visible at night by wearing brightly-colored clothing or reflective gear and carrying a flashlight.
