  • A crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle left both vehicles incinerated on Del. Route 1 on May 8. No one was seriously hurt in the crash, which occurred near Exit 93 on Route 1 near Dover at roughly 4:30 p.m.
The crash occurred as Benjamin D. Dill, 21 of Dover was driving his 1996 Honda motorcycle south on Del. Route 1, just north of exit 93. Dill crossed into the right shoulder where a Saturn Vue SUV was sitting in the shoulder immobilized. Dill struck a guard rail and  was ejected from the motorcycle. The bike and its rider both struck the SUV and both vehicles caught on fire.
An off duty Delaware State Police trooper was in the area at the time and was able to assist in removing Dill from the area of the burning wreckage and administer first aid prior to emergency services arriving.
The 21-year-old was transported to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later flown to Christiana Medical Center, while Caitlyn M. Gerken, 25 of Milton, the driver of the SUV, was transported to Kent General with minor injuries and was later released.
Del. Route 1 southbound was closed for roughly an hour will the accident was investigated and cleared. The Delaware State Police are currently still investigating the crash
