  • Robbers thwarted in 7-Eleven holdup attempt

  • Dover Police are looking for a pair of men who attempted to rob a convenience store clerk Tuesday morning.
    The incident took place at 4:23 a.m. May 6, at the 7-Eleven convenience store in the Hamlet Shopping Center at 1019 Walker Road, Dover, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
    Two men came into the store wearing black masks covering most of their faces, Hoffman said. One was wearing tan shorts, black sneakers and a black jacket or sweatshirt.
    The other was wearing all-black clothing.
    One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the clerk and demanded cash, but the clerk refused. The two then ran off toward the Dollar General store at the south end of the complex, Hoffman said.
    The first suspect was described as white, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches in height, skinny, and in his mid-teens.
    The second was described as white, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches in height and in his mid- to late teens.
    Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover Police at 736-7111.
