  • The Dover Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating a robbery and two attempted robberies that took place over a nine-hour span the weekend of April 28.
One person, identified as Cameron Gibbs, of the unit block of Ann Verona Court, Dover, has been listed by police as a person of interest in the case. Gibbs currently is on probation and is subject to an arrest warrant for shoplifting out of Delaware State Police Troop 3 and an active capias from the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for shoplifting.
n The first incident took place at 6:24 p.m. April 26, at Jolly Joe’s liquor store at 1160 White Oak Road, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman. The suspect, a heavy-set black woman, came into the store, handed the cashier a note saying she had a gun, and demanding money. The clerk refused, but the suspect was able to open the cash register and take an undisclosed amount of money.
n The second incident took place at 12:47 a.m. April 27, at the Relax Inn Motel at 640 S. Dupont Highway, Hoffman said.
The hotel clerk said she observed an older and faded red pickup truck enter the parking lot and watched as three people, two black men and a black woman, get out of vehicle. The clerk saod a woman entered the foyer area and slipped a handwritten note/envelope under the glass that stated “Give me your cash and put it in this envelope.” The clerk refused, and the suspect began hitting the glass with a large metal pipe. She fled after the unsuccessful robbery attempt.
No money was taken from the business and no injuries were reported to the victim.
The clerk described the woman as standing approximately 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 3 inches in height, weighing between 100 and 110 pounds, and wearing all black, with black gloves and black stocking that only covered half of the suspects face.
    Surveillance footage was not available.
n The final incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. April 27 at the Days Inn Hotel at 272 N. Dupont Highway, Hoffman said.
The clerk said a woman came into the lobby, stating, “This is a robbery, I have a gun, give me all the money from the register.”  The clerk refused the suspect’s demands and the woman fled southbound on foot from the hotel.
It is believed she may have gotten into a vehicle parked at the Race Track Car Wash next to the hotel property and fled in the vehicle.
The suspect was described as a black woman, possibly in her 30s, wearing a black stocking, black coat, dark pants, dark shoes, and pink gloves.
