  • Delaware State University Cooperative Extension is hosting a Seaford Safety Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 8 in Room 205 Agriculture Annex on the DSU campus, 1200 N. Dupont Highway, Dover.
    Dr. David Kingsley, food scientist in the USDA-ARS Food Lab at DSU, will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Gary Richards, lead scientist in the USDA-ARS Food Lab, will join him and other area experts representing Delaware’s USDA/land grant university partnership to discuss and demonstrate safe seafood handling, processing technologies and how to avoid potential health risks.
    Additional speakers include Dr. Haiqiang Chen, associate professor of Animal and Food Sciences, Dr. Mu Ye, research scientist and Doris Hicks, cooperative extension agent, from University of Delaware; senior research technician Grant Blank, research technician Talaysha Lingham and cooperative extension agent Donna Brown from Delaware State University.
    The workshop is free but registration is required.
