  • Dover Police have arrested a local man following reports of child abuse.
The incident began at 1:16 p.m. April 5, as police responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Lakeview Drive, Dover, said department spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
Detectives determined the suspect, identified as Marcus Miller, 22, had used a belt to hit his 1-year-old son numerous times, causing pain, bruising and swelling on the child’s back.
Miller was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
He was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in lieu of an $11,000 bond.
The child is in the custody of other family members, Hoffman said.
