Dover Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Spruance Road that sent an 18-year-old to the hospital.
The Dover Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating an early morning shooting that left one man in critical condition at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
The incident was reported at approximately 1:14 a.m. April 3, as police received several 911 calls about shots being fired in the 100 block of Spruance Road, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
Officers arriving on scene found an 18 year old man who had been shot in the torso; he was rushed to Kent General and underwent surgery for his injuries and now is listed in critical but stable condition, Hoffman said.
Dover Police have learned a fight took place between a number of people on Spruance Road and an unknown person fired 12 or more shots toward a home. Several rounds hit the building and nearly hit other persons in and around the area as they fled for safety.
The suspect was described as a black man, approximately 18 years of age, with a thin build, standing approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches in height, wearing a dark T-shirt with navy blue jeans.
Police also are looking for a tan or gold SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Trailblazer, with rear tinted windows and chrome rims.
