Officials with the Delaware Department of Correction are reporting the death of an inmate Friday.
Jason Hawks, 36, formerly of Dover, died at 11:10 a.m. March 28 at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, said DOC spokesman John R. Painter.
Hawks had been incarcerated since September 2005, serving a 20-year sentence for second-degree rape at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, near Smyrna.
Hawks’ remains have been turned over to the state medical examiner, as is standard procedure, Painter said.
Foul play is not suspected, he said.
