  • Troopers level fifth DUI charge against Felton man

  • A Felton man, identified as Bruce A. Sweeney, has been arrested on DUI charges following an incident in the parking lot of the Harrington Raceway and Casino.

  • A Felton man has been arrested on DUI charges following an incident in the parking lot of the Harrington Raceway and Casino.
    The incident took place at 1:17 a.m. March 22, according to documents released by Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, when a trooper contacted a man, identified as Bruce A. Sweeney, 52, of the 1400 block of South Dupont Highway. The trooper had been sent to the casino following a reported traffic crash.
    According to the warrant of probable cause, Sweeney said he had been pulling out of a parking spot while talking on his phone and had hit a vehicle next to him. The trooper reported the rear bumper of the other vehicle had been torn off.
    Sweeney allegedly failed a field test for alcohol as well as a preliminary breath test and an intoxilizer test.
    A computer check showed Sweeney had four prior DUI convictions.
    Sweeney was charged with a single count of fifth offense DUI and a charge of inattentive driving.
    He was released after posting a $5,000 secured bail.
