Three people from New York were arrested March 20 after a fight at Dover Downs.

Officers with the Dover Police department arrested three New York residents Thursday morning following a fight outside the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

Police responded to the melee just before 1 a.m. March 20, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman. Reports indicated more than 200 people were fighting and disorderly in the casino parking lot; it is thought the majority of those involved were inside the Doc Magrogan’s bar and restaurant beforehand, Hoffman said.

As officers began to break up the crowd, one person, identified as Lance Chadwick, 19, of Brooklyn, N.Y., fled from officers, but was apprehended.

Another person, identified as Christopher Cox, 21, also of Brooklyn, also was taken into custody. It is thought Cox and Chadwick were fighting each other when police arrived, Hoffman said.

A third person, identified as Denessa Claye, 22, of Staten Island, N.Y., also was arrested.

Dover Police were assisted by Delaware State Police troopers and officers from the Delaware State University police force.

All three were charged with disorderly conduct, while Chadwick also was charged with resisting arrest.

Chadwick and Cox were released on $750 and $250 unsecured bonds, respectively. Claye was issued a criminal summons and also released.
