  • Dover Police have arrested a New York man after his girlfriend accused him of rape.
The case began March 16 at the Comfort Suites, 1654 N. Dupont Highway, when police received a 911 call, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman.
A woman staying at the hotel told police her boyfriend, identified as Karl P. Hoennicke, 33, had attacked her and forced her to have sex. Hoennicke threatened to kill her if she did not comply, the woman said.
The woman later was evaluated and treated for minor injuries at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Hoffman said.
Hoennicke was charged with two counts of second-degree rape and ordered held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in default of $40,000 secured bail.
