  • The town of Cheswold has cancelled its scheduled March 25 town council elections due to a lack of candidates.
Current council members Donald Tinari, Robert Sine, Theon Callender and Sherry Lambertson will be sworn in to new two-year terms at the scheduled April 7 town meeting.
However, because no one ran for seats now held by retiring council members Justin Curley and Mildred Johnson, those positions will remain vacant.
Although the filing deadline for election to council has passed, town residents still may apply for a position, which will be reviewed by sitting council members. If selected, an applicant would serve a one-year term.
