Officers with the Delaware Department of Correction are looking for an inmate who failed to return from an authorized pass issued by the Morris Community Corrections Center, Dover.

DOC spokesman John R. Painter identified the walk-away as Calvin Byrd, 24, of Clayton. Byrd is described as a black man standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

He is known to wear a full beard and also has tattoos on his abdomen, left forearm and right forearm.

Byrd is wanted for violating probation on an original charge of second-degree burglary.

Community Corrections Centers are facilities where the DOC manages offenders who are transitioning back into the community. These centers are not secured in the manner of standard prisons, as offenders are permitted to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs or attend approved treatment sessions.

Anyone with information as to Byrd’s whereabouts is asked to call (800) 542-9524, or their local police department, Painter said.
