Dover Police are investigating a robbery and assault that took place on The Green.

Dover Police are investigating an apparent robbery and assault that took place in Downtown Dover. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. Feb. 15, in the vicinity of 40 The Green, said department spokesman Lt. Marvin Mailey. The victim said he had left a party when he was approached by several men, one of whom charged him while the others joined in the attack. The 23-year-old victim said he was assaulted several times as the suspects took a necklace and tried to take other jewelry. A friend to tried to help also was assaulted, Mailey said. The suspects were described only as several black men, with one being approximately 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a dark complexion and wearing short dreadlocks. The man was dressed in jeans and a dark jacket, Mailey said. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover Police at 736-7111.
