  • Gunman takes cash from tobacco store

  • Officers with the Dover Police Department are investigating an armed robbery at a local tobacco store. The incident took place at approximately 9:17 p.m. Feb. 13, at the Dot Discount store, located at 720 Townsend Blvd., Dover, said police spokesman Lt. Marvin Mailey. The suspect walked into the store carrying a handgun and demanded cash from the store clerk, Mailey said. The 37-year-old clerk fled to a back room, after which the man walked behind the counter, pushed a female customer to the ground and took cash from the register. The man then fled the store on foot. The suspect was described as a black man approximately 26 years of age, having a thin build, wearing blue sneakers, a black jacket and blue jeans. The man wore a mask and had facial hair around the mask. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Dover Police at 736-7111.
