Bayhealth recently recognized Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Week.
During surgery, CRNA's monitor medications and patient vital signs. They make sure blood is flowing properly throughout the body. CRNA's are trained in all common anesthesia methods, including general and spinal. Nurse anesthetists first obtain bachelor’s and master’s degrees in general nursing. They then must complete a course of study in the anesthesia field.
Nurse anesthesia programs range from 24-36 months and include training in university or large community hospitals.
