Between four and five acres of empty land caught fire along the edge of exit 91 off of Delaware Route 1 in Dover today. The cause of the fire is still unknown. The scene has been turned over to the State Fire Marshal's Office for investigation.

The Magnolia Fire Company responded to the brush fire around 5 p.m. today, with assistance from Little Creek Fire Company. The fire was put out roughly 25 to 30 minutes after fire crews arrived on scene, according to Ron Rhodes, Chief of the Magnolia Fire Company.

The fire was fairly contained due to the fact that there was a pond on one side and the roadway of exit 91 created a barrier on the other side, according to Rhodes

"The wind made it difficult, but other than that it was pretty easy," Rhodes said.
