Delaware State Police troopers have arrested a Hartly man in connection with thefts from a property in Marydel. Dwayne E. Wooters, 49, of the 1800 block of Hourglass Road, Hartly, was arrested Jan. 23, according to the warrant of probable cause released by Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover. According to the warrant, Wooters had been contacted by the Marydel family to help sell some scrap metal. However, in addition to picking up the metal Wooters allegedly broke into a nearby shed and took a number of items, to include a pressure washer, miscellaneous tools, a baseboard heater, three toolboxes and tools, and a weed eater, all with a total value of approximately $3,350. One of the victims said Wooters returned the pressure washer after they confronted him about it at his home; two of the victims later accompanied a trooper to Wooters’ home, where they found the baseboard heater in plain view. According to the warrant, Wooters denied taking any property from the shed. Wooters was charged with third-degree burglary, one count of theft of property valued at more than $1,500, three counts of theft of property valued at less than $1,500 and criminal mischief. He was later released on a $4,050 unsecured bond pending a Jan. 31 preliminary hearing.
