  • Jane D. Wingfield, after leading a wonderful, full, rich adventure filled life, her over 50 year battle with heart disease ended on January 19, 2014. She wrote “opinion letters” to the editor, starting in Norfolk, Va. in 1971 and while in Delaware until 2013, with over 100 published. This was one of her greatest hobbies. For 20 years she raised butterflies. She loved life, people and nature. She was a published poet and was known for being true to herself even when others did not agree. She also loved singing and harmonizing. Jane developed and directed the Women's Civic Chorus in Norfolk, Va. The family will receive friends on Jan. 23, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Wyoming United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM with a reception after the service. Flowers will be accepted or a memorial contributions to the Wyoming United Methodist Church 302-697-8400 or Delaware Hospice in Milford, 302-678-4444. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Robert M. Wingfield; their son, Robert J. Wingfield; her parents, the Rev. Dr. Robert H. Duncan & wife Letha Lynch Duncan; Jane's twin, Jean Whitsitt; and a sister, Roberta D. Bagwell. She leaves behind her beloved children, Steven M. Wingfield of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Kathy, and her husband Chad Cooper of Wyoming, and her sister Barbara B. Davis.
