Delaware State Police are advising Harrington residents of a homeless sex offender who is living somewhere in the area.
The man is William R. Singletary, 29, who was convicted in 1999 and 2004 of third-degree rape of a victim under 16 years old and unlawful sexual contact, according to the Delaware Sex Offender Central Registry.
Police emphasize that Singletary is not wanted for any crime; state law requires police to notify area residents when a known sex offender is living in their neighborhood. Law enforcement officials use the media to notify the entire community when a sex offender is listed as homeless.
Singletary is a Tier III, or high risk offender.
He is described as a black man, standing 5 feet 10 inches in height, weighing 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information that Singletary is occupying a residence in the area is asked to call (302) 672-5306, (800) TIP-3333.
