  • A traffic stop has led to a man's arrest for attempted rape.

  • Dover Police have arrested a local man on charges of attempted rape following a traffic stop. Police made the arrested at approximately 3:17 p.m. Jan. 11, in the vicinity of Kirkwood and West Loockerman streets, said police spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman. After stopping the car for a traffic violation, the patrol officer noted the odor of marijuana coming from the car and asked the occupants to exit the vehicle, Hoffman said. Upon checking the identification of each individual, the officer discovered an outstanding warrant against Emmit Brown, 23, of the 400 block of Barrister Place. He was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree rape. After arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, Brown was released after posting a $10,000 secured bond.
