  • Arthur Henry “Frenchie” French, 88, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He formerly lived in Wyoming for 53 years. He was born on June 7, 1925 in Toronto, Canada, son of the late John Wesley and Edith Eveline Braid French. Art served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korean Conflict. He graduated from Dover High School. He was a machinist for the State Highway Department and retired in 1980 after 35 years of service Art created a childlike celebration for most holidays, especially Christmas and Easter. He was artistic and loved being around his family and sharing food with them. He is predeceased by his sisters Olive Shoemaker, Lorraine Frazier, Mary Simmons, and brothers John Townley French and Robert French. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Norma, three daughters, Brenda French (Keith), Barbara Nichols (Chuck) and Heidi Piazza (Ernie), four grandchildren, Michael Richter, Jamie Piazza (Melissa), Jeremy Piazza and Suzie Martin (Adam). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Wyoming United Methodist Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Rd, Dover, DE, 19904 In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Wyoming United Methodist Church Building Fund.
