The Caesar Rodney Riders girls basketball squad took down Henlopen Conference foe Polytech on Thursday night 60-16.

The Riders scored the game’s first 18 points, not allowing a Polytech basket until late in the first quarter to take control early.

CR used an aggressive press defense to force some early turnovers that resulted in quick transition baskets that frazzled the Panthers from the tip-off. While Polytech tried their best, they weren’t able to overcome the Riders’ pressure defense scoring just 3 points in the opening stanza.

In the second quarter it was more of the same as the Riders continued to play aggressively, outscoring the Panthers 19-7 to take a 39-10 lead into the break.

The Rider defense didn’t let up in the second half allowing just six points to the Panthers  to walk away with a blow-out 60-16 victory.

While every Rider found the stat sheet, Lexi Prillaman led the way with a game-high 14 points on Thursday night. All 11 Riders registered at least a point in the win, including Alissa Haith with 11, and Shakyra Cephas with 9 helping to pace the well-rounded Rider attack.

Sarah Hillman did her best to keep the Panthers in the game, scoring eight points in the loss.

The Riders followed up their victory Thursday night with another on Friday night, defeating yet another divisional opponent in Cape Henlopen, 54-34. Prillaman once again led the way for the Riders scoring a game-high 25.
