  • Former Dover commander nominated for first star

  • Former Dover AFB commander Col. Mark D. Camerer has been nominated for promotion to brigadier general.

  • Col. Mark D. Camerer, who commanded the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base from January 2011 to August 2012, has been nominated for promotion to brigadier general by President Barack Obama.
    Camerer currently is commander of the 37th Training Wing at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.
    In that position, Camerer oversees the basic training regimen for more than 85,000 students annually.
    A command pilot with more than 3,750 flight hours and more than 745 combat and combat support hours, Camerer has been in the Air Force since he was commissioned through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps in September 1989.
    He was promoted to the grade of colonel in August 2008.
    Camerer's promotion still must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
